Financial Audit

Each year, the City of Mercedes completes an independent financial audit to make sure your tax dollars are managed responsibly and transparently.

The audit is performed by a licensed public accounting firm that reviews how the City handles its money,  from daily operations to long-term projects, and checks that everything follows state and federal laws.

Here’s what the audit covers:

  • How the City’s money was collected and spent

  • Compliance with financial laws and regulations

  • How federal and state grant funds were used

  • Internal controls that protect public funds

This annual review helps ensure the City remains accountable, efficient, and transparent with the community.
